Making contacts into California on 10 meters is perhaps a little more challenging than working the east coast. Propagation has to be that bit better and the band must stay open longer in the afternoon (often past the hours of darkness). Signals are lower and QSB (fading) is often more prevalent.
The following contacts were made using my indoor 10m groundplane antenna which is mounted inside the loft of my house. Being on top of a hill helps give me reasonable results on the higher HF bands and helps compensate for my poor antenna, to a degree at least.
