Home add ITV1 channels to Sky box
The procedure below details how to add additional ITV regions on your Sky Digibox or Freesat PVR. The information provided has been updated in November 2014, to reflect recent transponder changes.
Please note that ITV services are predominantly carried on Astra 2E and 2F at 28.2E, using satellite transponders which are optimised for UK reception, via a narrow spot beam - see Astra 2E coverage map.
Because of this, a large satellite dish may be required to get good ITV reception in southern and eastern Europe, where signal levels are weak. See our page on Sky TV reception in Europe for more help and information on receiving BBC and ITV by satellite in other European countries.
In order to add more regional ITV channels to a Sky Box (out of your normal viewing region), follow the procedure below:
To view the additional ITV regions, press "Services" on the Sky handset and then scroll down to "Other Channels" (button 6). Simply scroll down to the alternative ITV region you have manually added and press 'Select' to view it. To return to your existing Sky EPG channels by using the Channel up and Down buttons on the Sky handset.
It is not possible to add the additional ITV regions into the Sky EPG as the assigned ITV channel on Ch103 is set by the Sky viewing card (default being ITV London). This makes things a little awkward as access to these ITV channels. When set up they are selected for viewing through 'Services' > 'Other Channels'.
In case you are unaware, all BBC1 and 2 regions are transmitted on Sky EPG channels 941 to 962.

Many Freesat + and Freesat HD boxes allow the addition of non-Freesat channels - but please read our notes about ITV regional variations on Freesat and refer to the instruction manual of your particular Freesat box for the appropriate installation procedure, using Manual tuning. Use the transponder details given below to add ITV regions.
ITV has a broadcasting license restricting it to the UK. For this reason most ITV channels are broadcast on Astra 2E and Astra 2F, which have a spot beam designed to cover the UK. See Astra 2E and Astra 2F coverage maps. If you live in Europe, Rob's Satellite TV has dish sizes for Astra 2F reception in all parts of northern, central and southern Europe.
Most ITV channels are transmitted FTA (free to air) on Astra 2E and Astra 2F, as coverape in mainland Europe is sufficiently reduced.
Freesat selects the appropriate ITV region based on the postcode entered during set top box installation. Additional ITV regions can then be tuned in "Non-Freesat" mode, which assigns them channels outside of the normal Freesat EPG. This manual-tuning approach to add channels is offered on most Freesat boxes (including Humax).
As a result of financial cutbacks in the ITV companies, ITV sub-regions frequently carry identical programming. From February 2009, Anglia West and Anglia East ITV now offer the same regional output and local news programmes, in order to save money.
